WORKFLOW - EPISODE 1: CAMILLE WALALA

September 18, 2019

Episode 1 of our new series WORKFLOW

Camille Walala and Julia Jomaa take us on a journey through their workflow: from the floor-to-ceiling mood-boards of their new East London studio to the bustling streets of Central London for the reveal of Camille’s latest public art installation: Walala Lounge.

Camille Walala, London based artist, designer, and founder of Walala Studio recently moved into a new studio and knew that magnetic wallcoverings would be a must. Camille has a very colorful and playful workflow, including cutting pieces of paper as an organic approach to discovering new patterns and spending hours creating large scale mood-boards across the magnetic wallcoverings of that span her studio walls. When you enter her studio, it is almost as if that you have stepped into the creative mind of this vibrant, trailblazing artist; with collages of her visual inspiration, and high-intensity pattern surrounding you as you explore the space. Walala Studio’s Creative Producer, Julia Jomaa uses Foster wallcoverings on a daily basis too, but with a different method. Julia’s role requires heightened organization as she coordinates every detail of the studio’s projects with the goal to bring even Camille’s most ambitious ideas to life. She describes herself as a highly visual person, so to keep the projects on track, she surrounds herself with calendars and color-coded lists that evolve in real-time, acting as a functional backdrop to her workstation area.

For the Foster magnetic wallcoverings in her studio, Camille Walala chose our Connect: Dot-Grid Dry Erase in the Astro finish. For accessories, Camille specified custom colors for the Workflow Collection Note Layers (to match a huge hand-painted Walala mural in the entrance) and added our Magnetic Wall Planners by Poketo in the color Teal. Also featured in her space is our Polarity Collection in Pop-Color.
